Three months ago I left my job at almost 50 (crazy one) and I only had the idea that I didn’t want to live like that anymore. I had some ideas that I set out to realize, by founding an NGO, with some ideas, not very clear and in quite a bit of fear and uncertainty. Shortly before that, I applied to an academy for women and at that moment I didn’t know exactly what it was about, but I knew that I needed to get out of the city, meet other women, and hear some other experiences.
The program was called BAZA – Empowering Women to Shape Tomorrow program of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.
Why not, I thought, I admit it. Still in English, haha I’ll understand for sure, I’m not sure how well I’ll be able to speak, but the challenge is accepted!
And then it started!
April – Sarajevo and getting to know the really wonderful and influential (on me) Joanna, with whom I went through the first phase of teaching together. There was also Jasmina Mršo, whose every word I deeply analyzed (professional deformation) and I was in the mood, aha, what I consider impossible is possible.
There I also met Sabina, a very young and inspiring politician, as well as Kira and Violeta, who showed the strength of a woman even in the most difficult life circumstances.
Result of the 1st session: OK, not bad, I could somehow apply this in my life. In the meantime, because I like to play, I played a little in Canva and made a very naive children’s video and tagged new friends. And according to their reactions and testimonies, it happened that with my post I encouraged several of them to rise above their fears and barriers and to dare to start presenting themselves in a different way so that the world could see that they are really worth it and have something to say.
We started to work more intensively and transparently with our new NGO and even implemented some actions.
Sarajevo – We were so young and naive
May – Crikvenica and the continuation of lectures, now we are already closer, in the meantime, we consulted and supported each other in our Wacap group, almost every day. There, in addition to our Joana, we were also greeted by Ivana, who conveyed her knowledge and experiences to us with mathematical precision, at first glance, she was a very likable Mariana, but a serious politician with serious results, and An, whose life experience, the path she traveled and the positions she held say that only the sky is the limit.
Result of the 2nd session: My English is getting better, the launch of a large action by an NGO for the prevention of peer violence, the mobilization of all high schools in the country to participate, and the launch of a local web portal. Establishing cooperation with many organizations and influential individuals who are willing to support our ideas. In translation, this means that my address to them exudes certainty, and self-confidence and sends the message, I know well what I do and how I do it.
Crikvenica – More confidence and friendly
Jun – Mokrin’s last session and the fantastic Milica and Vuka, I know about them from before and I know well what they do and I like the set. For me, it is the opportunity to talk to women whose courage and transparency I admire and what I should be, and of course Joana and the old company. And my graduation speech. Yes, I prepared my graduation speech 15 days in advance. After 10 days, I changed the subject, and in the end, I spoke about something that I had not prepared at all. I went out in front of the audience and said what was on my heart at that moment. And I received a big round of applause and confirmation that I was on the right path.
Result: I have a diploma!
Just kidding, I have knowledge, strength, courage, and support. The NGO, portal and social networks are experiencing dizzying growth and we are already recognized as a serious team of people who do very serious and significant things, and I can say without shame, I am the leader of that team.
